Peychaud's Bar

Two ingredients that define New Orleans culture: a secluded courtyard and cocktails inspired by New Orleans history. Combine them together in an old French Quarter building with a storied cocktail history and you get Peychaud’s Bar. Named for New Orleans’ most iconic cocktail bitters, this new bar was created from the remnants of an underutilized hotel lobby, office space, and desolate courtyard. The new design connects the transformed interior of the new bar to Toulouse Street and the rear courtyard, inviting  locals and visitors to experience the charm of New Orleans French Quarter living.

Studio West’s design was inspired by the legacy of the historic property, home to Antoine Peychaud, the inventor of New Orleans’ most famous bitters, and the writer Tennessee Williams. The bar was envisioned as a place where the two might have lingered and exchanged ideas during different eras. At just 650 sq. ft, Peychaud’s Bar makes the most of the small space with the insertion of a new oak wood fin bar, oiled mirrors, and marble bartop, ten bar seats and handful of lounge seats around two uncovered original marble fireplaces. The romantic rear courtyard welcomes guests with timeless furnishings and tropical foliage around the restored historic fountain.
